What is UPI, and how does it work?

Updated this week

UPI (Unified Payments Interface) is a real-time payment system developed by the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

It allows you to send money directly to someone's UPI ID (e.g., name@bank) without needing their full bank details.

Transfers are fast, secure, and available 24/7 — including weekends and holidays.

Note: If the recipient doesn't have a UPI ID, you can still send money using their bank account details instead.
